Conservatory Blinds fitted in Glasgow
A typical customer experience…
After many hours of obtaining quotes for blinds involving spending hours with salesmen, a lot of hard sell and for me unrealistic prices, I almost decided to abandon the idea until I came across, by chance, Conservatory Roof Blinds.
I initially had concerns, as no-one would call at the house to measure exactly until I had accepted a quote based on the overall dimensions (which I had to do) and send a 50% deposit. It is always a risk when ordering from an unknown source over the internet especially when a significant amount of money is involved however I could not be more pleased with the service, fitting or product.
There were a few concerns (I have sliding doors which slide across fixed panes) which I discussed with Conservatory Roof Blinds over the phone and he suggested I email him photographs. He worked out a solution and I agreed to go ahead.
Paul the surveyor and fitter came the next week and measured without any hassle. The blinds arrived within the month ( the delivery man was very friendly) and fitting was trouble and stress free. Paul returned a couple of weeks later to adjust the tension in a few blinds.
It’s a pleasure to deal with people who have such professional and helpful attitude to their work and who care about customer satisfaction.
The blinds make a huge difference to our conservatory and the decision to use Conservatory Roof Blinds is one which I am glad I took.

Adjusting your blinds.
Opening and closing
We generally find that once the customer has got the blinds they tend to leave them closed most of the time. Mainly because the blinds are working to keep the conservatory cool in summer or warm in winter.
However should you want to open or close the blinds this is easy to do. With your order you will be given an adjustment pole which you slide sideways onto the tab on moving end of the blind. Now twist the pole anticlockwise to lock it into position. The blinds will now support the weight of the pole and it can hang free. Now, using two hands, one on the end of the pole and the other on the shaft you can adjust the blind open or closed (or anywhere in between of course). Do keep the pole at 90% to the blind to aid stability when adjusting.
One last tip. Should you want to store the pole conveniently it is best to use a pipe clip (13mm) used by plumbers and fix this to a wall close by.
You’re probably wondering what this is all about…
This page just shows you some of the detail we go into to get your job right. Let me explain: Basically when you make a Louvolite Perfect Fit blind you can use fixed or flexible corners. The one on the left is the flexible one and it is the ONLY type of corner we use. It actually costs more due to having more bits and the labour taking about 10 minutes more per corner.
So why do we use them? Well simply put what might look square and parallel is often not so. We actually measure the roof with a laser and we find on rectangular windows often one side of a blind can be up to 8mm longer than on the other side. Therefore it is not actually square. Do you notice? Probably not, but when we fit a blind into a window like this WE do notice and that is the story of flexible corners.
Oh yes, you can use fixed corners but when you fit the blind it needs to be packed out because it is not quite a ‘PERFECT FIT’.
We have noticed when talking to our customers that they generally do a good bit of shopping around before accepting our quotation. They do always have some stories to tell us too about their exploits…..
Anyway mostly they get around the major ‘well known’ roof blinds suppliers - these are typically the ones you find in the glossy weekend magazines. Now these companies would still have to drill holes to install but that is almost a secondary issue.
The thing they have in common is that the price they quote is usually more than TWICE the cost we quote.
Funnily enough that seems to grab the potential customers attention and therefore we get called back in to do an ‘HPJ’ or HALF PRICE JOB…
Here are a couple done recently just in Swindon.
By the way we encourage shopping around and with our prices you can see why…
Incidentally what a great touch of class by having the roof one shade and the sides another!
Golden Oak Frames
If you have a conservatory with a Golden Oak (light brown) coloured frame it is a good idea to read this…
Some conservatories have this colour frame (as opposed to the white or dark brown). If this is what you have you can get a perfect fit frame to match it! That is the good news now the other news…
Two points to be aware of really.
Firstly Golden Oak is ONLY available for side windows - so if you want the roof done at the same time (or later) you will only be able to get the roof done in white or the standard (dark) brown frames. Until the overall market volume for this colour of blind goes up and Louvolite decide to produce Golden Oak for rooves we are a bit stuck…
The second point is that the Golden Oak coating is NOT painted on as the standard colours are, it is actually a plastic wrapped coating stuck onto the aluminium. For this reason you will find if you shop around that some suppliers charge extra for Golden Oak frames, we don’t though!
By the way the photo may not look much but it shows how good the colour match is.

A word about obtuse blinds
We often get questions about these…
Nice job in Northampton. Unusual fixed obtuse blinds, the blinds don’t draw (except the one you see drawn which is NOT obtuse). Now you can get drawable obtuse but not everyone likes them as they have to be ‘partitioned’ at the bottom to create one large blind at the top which will draw (as it is now a right angled blind)! All a bit complicated really - call for details on obtuse if you need. Look at the detail on this job in the gallery, note how all the pleats line up perfectly. Superb result!
The customer said ‘Hi, just wanted to say thanks very much for a lovely job! Very pleased, my patience has been rewarded.
Two infill blinds sitting on a wall….
Note the build quality!

Beware the Stories….
There are very few companies with the expertise to survey and fit these blinds.
This is important because we encourage everyone to go and get other quotes, but then often have customers come back to us with all kinds of scaremongering stories as to why they should NOT buy Perfect Fit blinds! We’ve heard them all…“they take days to fit”, “they will warp the glass, due to the heat!”, “they fall out!”, “they are made in China” etc.
Now at the end of the day the choice is of course yours, however the true price you could be paying is drilled holes in your conservatory which may invalidate your Conservatory Guarantee. It is often a good idea to check this with the company who built it for you prior to making your decision.
These are generally planted in customers minds because the company has not got the expertise to install Perfect Fit blinds or can’t get them at the prices we can!
Please bear in mind that Louvolite took years to develop this type of blind and that is one reason that they only allow Louvolite trained surveyors and installers to work with their product.
Don’t accept smoke and mirrors and commission driven sales, you CAN have the best - Perfect Fit by Louvolite!
Long Lean To Blinds
Solving the problem of long blinds!
With blinds over 3 metres long (normally only in lean to conservatories) we need to split the blind into 2 pieces. This means that the split point in the roof is agreed with the surveyor prior to install.
Whilst the downside is Perfect Fit can not be made over 3 metres the upside is more flexibility as you can have more open/closed configurations.
Call us with any questions on this type of installation.
Perfect Fit Clip-In Frames
All Perfect Fit blinds clip in and out of the roof. No need for drilling at all and very easy to clean (just detach them).
Here we are able to show the quality of the frame that the blinds come in.
Note the strength of the corners particularly.
How the Clips Work
Simply Push Fit!
As you can see from the pictures we use very substantial clips in fitting these blinds.
Obviously they must support the weight of the blind and be correctly positioned. Normally there are 4 clips per blind. Once located the frame of the blinds is positioned and pushed into place!
The lower picture here shows the frame positioned but not yet pushed home.

3 Stages of Install
Here we show 3 stages of a typical installation, blinds clip-in (and clip-out) as shown.
All the blinds are fully adjustable - here we show the job half finished too (cup of tea)!
Note the versatility of the completed job - if you have sun on one side of the house, pull down just those blinds as required.
We only use Louvolite trained specialists…
